Oh my goodness!
We have SO much to report!
A couple of weeks ago I participated in....
(A non-competative...yet VERY long Cetury Bike ride!)
Note: Women only.
It was the morning of
Tadje's birthday party and I rode like the WIND!!!
I was trying desperately to get home an HOUR before the party boys arrived.
However, I am not as fast as I think I am . (In my 20 year old mind).
So, I arrived just 5 MINUTES before the party arrived!
(It was a little NUTS)
It was up hill---both ways.
With a head wind---both ways.
Wow-za.
I always do these things alone.
The best part of the ride was that I ended up with 4 other women.
They were die-hard riders.
I felt like the younger sister behind, on her training wheels.
But they put up with me!
Our group came in second.
(Uh---I didn't say I wasn't competative)
I also made great friends.
One lady works in the Draper Temple, knew my Dad, and brags about me from week to week.
( It's fun to make some connections after 4 years.)
Then...this week.
I ran in the Ogden Marathon.
The packet pick up was the day before.
Gabe was my "tag-along" buddy.
And boy did we have FUN!
Unbeknownst to me....the Expo was at the Odgen Union Station.
With a WONDERFUL train museum!!!
(More to come on that adventure)
I have been trying different marathons since our move.
One that I'll go back too.
THIS WAS IT!
I am telling you, it was the "prettiest run" I have ever done!
(As quoted by Runner's World Magazine)
However...during my "long" training run...I had a small problem.
I had a little TIA (mini-stroke)
So I never finished the long run.
And in my competative mind I thought, "I'll be fine!!!! Just run it!"
Yeh...so I am just a LITTLE sore yesterday, today....and probably the rest of the week!
But I finished.
Upon finishing....I met Paul and the kids.
To my dismay, Gabriel had the flu in the early morning hours.
Paul STILL drove him to Ogden to great me at the end.
UGGHHH.
He didn't make it more than 50 yards from the finish line and the drama started.
He looked green
then pale
then he sat down
then I rubbed his back
and then Paul went and got the car.
We decided Paul should leave immediately.
I would follow with the girls after eating.
My husband follows instructions VERY well.
So he left.
After a potty run for Ava.
A treat for me.
And pill-bug hunt for Lauren.
We were on our way, only to find out that the Volvo was out of battery juice!!
So...Paul turned around and drove BACK to Ogden.
Jumped the car.
And we drove home.
Poor Gabriel.
It was a thrill to run a marathon.
I'd love to do it again!
But the Mommy in me felt "sick" about Gabe.
My play time is done for the summer.
Now, if the sun will ever shine!
