We had our FIRST ballet production!!
All 4 children partcipated in a local production of The Nutcracker.
Ava (4), Candy Cane Girl
Lauren (11), Red Soldier & Court Jester
Tadje (8), Party Boy
Gabe (6), Party Boy
Gabriel did this as a "favor" to the director, and waited for Tadje to say "yes" before he committed. As the rehersals began, I could see that he was beginning to enjoy his experience! So much so, that on one of the nights while cheering for the dancing doll bear, he did a little Elivis-like hip thrust!!! He had a great time!
Tadje loves The Nutcracker! Anytime we go to see it, he asks if he can do that one day. I knew that he would say "yes!" He made a few friends. He enjoyed every rehersal and performance! Nice going, Tadje!!!
Lauren just started ballet lessons in November! She was invited to dance, and jumped at the chance! She played a red soldier and court jester! Each day I would pick her up from lessons, she would be "beaming!" We are so proud of all she has learned in such a short time! So great!
Ava also started ballet in November! She really has come a long way! We signed her up because she was doing her own interpretation of "hip-hop." She played a candy-cane girl! These little girls stood at the back, hoola-hoops in hand, for the entire second act! We could see that Ava got braver with each performance night! By the last night, she was flinging that hoola-hoop around and dancing in circles for most of Act II! Yikes! She really enjoyed the tutu's, the hair, the make-up, the big ballerina's, the music, and the dancing! Cute.
