Things have been a little "nuts" around this town.
From two weeks of a staph infection in my foot and leg,
to a traveling husband,
an early birthday celebration,
and whooping things up at a School Festival.
I am pretty worn out.
But...the show MUST go on!
The Fall Festival is tonight.
I serve on the School Community Council...and will be helping around to make sure things run smoothly.
And...the kids begged and begged to donate something to the Bake Sale.
Seriously?
So, I kind of copied my neighbors cute 4th of July idea, and came up with this:
She did hers in Red, White, and Blue.
A candy corn works for Fall.
So here's what you do:
Mix 2 boxes of Lemon Cake mix.
Pour into a large Jelly roll pan, fully lined with wax paper.
The wax paper is so you can pull the cake out easily.
Bake according to box for a 9x13.
(About 30 minutes)
Repeat for other colors.
*For the orange: I added 2 T of Orange Flavoring and Food Coloring to a white mix.
Cool.
Once cool, pull the wax paper and cake out of the pan.
Cut circles with the jar.
Trim browned top and/or bottoms of circles so you only see COLOR.
Layer as desired with a small amount of frosting between layers.
Top with frosting and sprinkles.
Put lid and ring on.
Frosting:
1 can of premade frosting
1 small jar of Marshmellow "Fluff."
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix and put into a pastry bag.
It makes layering the cake less messy inside the jar.
Viola.
